Review When I first met Dr. Larry Wilson and began studying with him about 8 years ago, I worked only six hours a day and dragged myself home exhausted most nights. I d tried a few types of nutritional treatment, but nothing worked. Nutritional balancing, on the other hand, did. Today in my practice of holistic psychiatry, I suggest hair testing to most of my patients, and I treat them using the principles in this book.

Alternative doctors order thousands of hair tests every year, but hardly any of them know how powerful a tool hair analysis can be. Most use it only to diagnose toxic metals, or misuse it thinking it directly diagnoses deficiencies and excesses. They are missing its best use: hair mineral analysis shows how the body s energy is out of balance and how to correct it.

Dr. Wilson explains how to read the hair test as a whole, because all these values are interrelated. For example, a low hair zinc level has a different meaning depending on the sodium/potassium ratio, and the treatment is different, as well.

It relies on the body s wisdom, instead of our own frequently flawed belief that we know the ideal order and timing for eliminating toxic metals and hundreds of toxic chemicals.

Understandably bitter as well as grieving, the teen must leave New York City, her best friends, and her usual haunts and habits to meet the man who deserted her when his wife died in childbirth. The tiny coastal hamlet near Santa Barbara, CA, and her father, an abalone fisherman of extraordinarily few words and apparently fewer emotions, present Liv with so many psychological and physical challenges that looking back becomes a luxury. As she did in Carolina Crow Girl (2001) and Charlie's Run (2000, both Farrar), Hobbs gives readers a strong and personable protagonist caught in a complex series of events that offers contemporary echoes of folkloric themes. Here, Liv is a kind of banished princess, but it is her father who must be awakened from a 15-year-long disenchantment. As she struggles to come to terms with her new home, Liv befriends her father's girlfriend as well as a young man her own age who may or may not offer a romantic possibility in the future. The title, besides the obvious play on the characters' emotions, refers to the job she takes aboard her dad's boat. Hobbs's storytelling pace is quick without feeling rushed, drawing readers in immediately and inextricably. Each character becomes a person whom teens will understand, whether with sympathy or hesitation, and by book's end, Liv's future looks as though it will continue to be interesting.

Liv begins dating Brian, her father's "tender" (whose job is to monitor the compression tank during dives) and slowly starts to build a relationship with her father, as he teaches her to dive. Then Sam is diagnosed with cancer, and Liv's world starts to fall apart again. Hobbs' characters are wonderfully human and fully realized, and she brings to life the insular, sometimes stifling, world of a small town. As Liv and her father learn to give and take from each other and from those who love them, the wordplay of the title becomes self-evident but very satisfying. Way more than just public speaking training... If you are reading the reviews, you are halfway there - you want to improve your communication skills. If I had only known some of these truths and approaches earlier in my life, I could have changed some of my mistakes and frankly, improved my career trajectory and my relationships. Read, re-read... apply. Return. Lisa is like a trusted friend... clear and kind. I'm practicing at home, in my friendships, and at work, and slowly improving. Money will spent. I got the kindle version, which is great (Alexa reads it to me), but I am thinking of giving the paper copy for a graduation present... just in case they are better at taking advice early in their career than I was. Sign me a slow learner!

As an author who writes about public speaking, I come across a book every so often that I wish I had written. This is one of those books. While I have not met Lisa, I feel as though I know her from listening to the outstanding Quick & Dirty Tips podcast.This book is Dale Carnegie's 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' for the Digital Age. Smart Talk provides hundreds of how-to tips for communicating with people in business and personal settings including: informal networking, giving & receiving feedback, dealing with difficult people, and negotiating. The book is not about formal public speaking on stage or in meetings; it is about practical, charismatic, interpersonal communication.I found this book so valuable that I bought the print version to highlight in and the audio version to listen to during my commute.

I've listened to Lisa's podcast and her advice really helped me prepare for a big presentation I had a few years ago. While recently on her site I read a post about dealing with difficult people. I purchased this book specifically to read that chapter, "Tongue Fu: How to Deal with Difficult People", and was not disappointed. I'm currently not working in an office environment, but have difficulty with family members. Her insight, advice, and suggestions were really helpful and I feel much more confident in these situations. Now I look forward to reading the rest of the book. Highly recommend anything Lisa B. Marshall does.

In Smart Talk, the author uses personal stories, quizzes, challenges and case studies to help you be a "smart talker." I found the information practical, valuable and original. The author delivers strategies and skills that make a lot of sense. I am certain I will immediately see a positive impact in my working relationships. I highly recommend Smart Talk for young adults. This book is going to be included in all my graduation gifts. Social media is great but with the loss of personal interaction, communication skills essential to success become foreign making Smart Talk an important tool. This is a book I will refer to often.

I have been listening to her podcast since the beginning of her podcast career. She always always always provides great tips I couldn't have found out anywhere else. I have been one of her huge fans and always will be.This book is great because it's like the condensed version of all the great public speaking tips she's given in her podcast and more. Lisa acts very personal in the book, making it feels like I have hired my personal coach. She shares a lot of her experiences for us to learn. I can't emphasize enough how important this book is to me in helping me with my public speaking skills.

As usual, I bought this reference with skepticism but listened with enjoyment and wished that I had it years ago. The author Lisa B Marshall writes with very personable style that is quite refreshing and her examples and advices are invaluable for anyone who's serious about career.
